Student Troupes

Raks Academy Dancers

Raks Academy Dancers is a student performing troupe of bellydancers who are in training for our professional troupe, Scimitar Dance Company or who just want to dance/perform for fun. This informal group frequently performs at our haflas and recitals at the studio as well as selected community events. There is no audition for this group and it is open to all with at least an understanding of basic bellydance vocabulary.

Lil' Rak Stars

Lil' Rak Stars are students based out the Calimesa location that primarily perform at the studio's recitals and select outside events. Most of these students have been in bellydance in less than a year and perform simple choreography and combos. Although there is no audition to join, you must be registered with Dance Dreams Studio to be able to perform at the recital. The members of this group with general bellydance understanding are also welcome to join in and dance with Raks Academy Dancers and learn their current choreography.

Scimitar Dance Company

Scimitar Dance Company  is the professional level performing group that performs at higher profile events and showcases. This group is frequently featured or hired for events that require an elite presence for weddings, parties, corporate events or tours. What makes Scimitar Dance Company unique is the broad repetoir of bellydance styles they can deliver in a performance. Based on interest and readiness, members of Scimitar Dance Company are eligible to compete at competitions.
Members of Scimitar Dance Company are required to have an extensive level of bellydance experience, commitment to practice, be able to attend most booked venues, and meet the costuming requirement. Dancers of Scimitar Dance Company must audition with the director to determine placement and skill level. All dancers of shapes, ages, dance genres with  a solid intermediate level and above are welcome to apply.

Mini-Ensembles

Dancers are encouraged to form mini-ensembles, whether it's specific to a genre or theme, the fun part of being in an ensemble is the creativity process involved! Dancers will vary depending on interest and skill level will determine the dynamic of the group(s) involved.
